Saturday, December 5, Green Valley - Stableford
On a sunny Saturday last weekend, the Thai-Ger Line Golf team of Kik and Fabian Arp organized their annual tournament at Rayong Green Valley, the 11th time this tournament has been staged. Some 52 players joined in and, as in previous years, one of the main attractions was the après golf "Full Moon Party" to be held at the Pinnacle Resort.
Andreas Gruneberg was the overall winner in the Men's field with 39 points to take the champions trophy, but only by the closest of margins on count back over Sadiq Mo, who came top in the 1st division. The runner up to Sadiq in the premier flight was Brad Sproxton with 37 points.
Another count back was required to separate the top two in the B Flight with Suraphol Sittiwang just edging Charlie Sheppard after they both came in with 34 point totals.
The C Flight was more clear cut with Ingo Raeuber producing a fine round of 37 points to finish 2 points clear of Alain Vavaseur who took the runners up spot.
Kamol Thongkiao was the toast of the ladies with a superb round of 42 points to earn her the champion's trophy. Karola Trautmann, despite only finishing with 26 points topped the remainder of the Ladies flight, just one ahead of 10 year old David Bandat who played off the Ladies tees and acquitted himself well.
As with last year, Steve Mascari proved to be the class golfer in the field as he once again posted the best low gross score of 73, but this was not enough to earn him a spot on the podium.
Following the golf, the players reassembled at the presentation "Full Moon Party" held on the beach of Pinnacle Resort where Ingo Raeuber and his colleagues put together a delicious buffet, and along with the cozy atmosphere and free flow of wine, beer and other drinks, it ensured that everybody enjoyed the night with their feet in the sand and their heads in the stars.
